Roots & Reverie is a Mexican American alt rock band from Austin, blending atmospheric, guitar-driven soundscapes with intimate, emotionally charged songwriting. Gritty and blues-tinged, the sound shifts between dreamy texture and driving rhythm — soulful vocals, modern indie spirit, roots running underneath.

Frontwoman Eline Chavez writes plainspoken and unsentimental in the Courtney Barnett and Chrissie Hynde tradition, and sings with the grit of Brittany Howard. A John Lennon Songwriting Contest winner, Chavez formed the band with jazz-inspired bassist Gabe Chavez and drummer Alfredo Velasquez of Los Amantes de Lola.

They call it Alt Amexicana — not a fusion, just Mexican American rock, made in Texas. Their songs circle reflection, resilience, and the wandering spirit, carried live at festivals including Austin Rhythm and Roots Revival and It's a VanFest.
